Terms & Conditions

Last modified: December 18, 2023

When purchasing services from WP Author Hosting, the following terms and conditions apply.

In a nutshell, we don’t allow  inappropriate usage of our server space, spammy behavior, or illegal content.

Please read through the following to make sure we are a good match for your needs before you purchase any of our hosting packages. If you require clarification, please reach out via our contact form.

Customers must maintain valid contact information and email addresses in our records. We use your email address to send important notifications regarding generated invoices, due payments, service suspension, service termination, provisioning of new services, and other relevant information.

We recommend using an external email address (such as a Gmail address) that is not hosted with us. This will enable you to receive our messages consistently, even if your account is temporarily suspended or in the unlikely event that our servers encounter issues.

We strive to expedite the setup and activation of hosting accounts, aiming for instant activation. However, the process could take up to 24 hours. Similarly, when migrating WordPress sites, emails, and DNS records, we will aim to complete those migrations as quickly as possible but they could take up to 72 hours from the time of the request, depending on the number of requests awaiting processing.

To ensure uninterrupted services, you must pay your invoices on time, as per your billing cycle. Failure to do so may result in the suspension of your hosting services and/or the loss of your domain name(s).

In the event of a hosting suspension, your account can only be reactivated upon receipt of full payment within 14 days from the date of suspension. If 14 days pass without receiving full payment, your hosting account, including any backup, will be permanently deleted from our servers.

To avoid the risk of losing your domain, timely renewal is essential. If you have missed your domain renewal payment and wish to retain your domain, please contact us promptly via our contact form or by creating a support ticket. We will make efforts to assist you in reacquiring your domain, although we cannot provide a guarantee.

In the event of inadvertent duplicate payments resulting from manual errors or multiple PayPal subscriptions, refunds will not be issued and any overpaid amount will be credited to your account, which can be utilized for future invoices.

If a payment is refunded due to a chargeback, the client will have to repay the refunded amount along with a one-time USD$20 chargeback fee.

We accept payments in USD, CAD, AUD, GBP, and/or EUR via PayPal, which supports credit cards.

Canadian customers also have the option to pay via Interac. If you are a Canadian customer and prefer to pay via Interac, please contact us, and we will manually generate an invoice for you. This invoice can be paid via Interac in CAD.

WPAuthorHosting.com is owned and operated by Creative Communication Solutions Ltd (CCSL), a Canadian corporation registered in Alberta but operating out of British Columbia. As such, we have to charge GST to all Canadian customers, and PST to Canadian customers residing in British Columbia.

GST applies to all services and domain name registration and will be listed exclusive to the prices listed on the site during checkout.

PST only applies to certain services and does not apply to domain name registration. If not explicitly listed during checkout or on an invoice, and if you are located in BC, please consider the PST to be included into the appropriate service prices.

GST Number: 82410 4657 RT0001

PST Number: PST-1480-9679

CCSL does not currently meet the threshold for collecting and remitting taxes in other jurisdictions, but this may change in the future. and our Terms and Conditions (as well as invoices) will reflect the most up-to-date information.

Our Hostpanel enables you to lock your files and folders through Security Lock, which prevents unauthorized changes to plugins, files, and folders. This optional feature is highly recommended and helps ensure that even if a hacker were to gain access to your site, they wouldn’t be able to modify the files to include malware or other nefarious code.

Similarly, our Hostpanel also enables you to toggle on Auto-Updates for your WordPress version, themes, and plugins. Auto-updates will automatically and temporarily change the status of the Security Lock to proceed with the updates, then restore the Security Lock to ensure optimal security of your site after the WordPress version, theme, and/or plugin was updated.

Should you wish to add a plugin or theme, upload a file, and/or edit any of the theme file code, you will need to disable the Security Lock first. WordPress will show a pop-up asking for FTP information. Disregard that popup and simply log into your Hostpanel, scroll to the bottom, go to Software -> WordPress Manager  and then disable the Security Lock for the domain in question. Once you are done making your changes, please remember to re-enable the Security Lock to ensure optimal file security for your WordPress installation.

When requesting website, email, and/or DNS migrations from WPAuthorHosting.com, your data will be transferred to our server. Our staff will handle your data with utmost care and respect your privacy. They will solely utilize your login credentials for the purpose of transferring the data to our servers. However, there is a possibility that some of your data, such as a partial email message, may be viewed by our staff during the migration process in order to verify that the migration has been successfully completed and messages were copied over to our server. By requesting a free migration from WPAuthorHosting.com, you acknowledge and understand the inherent risks involved, including the potential visibility of certain data during the migration process.

Our 60-day money-back guarantee applies exclusively to new clients and is limited to our hosting services, as outlined below. Please note that new orders placed by existing clients are not eligible for our money-back guarantee program.

For hosting services covered by our money-back guarantee, you have the option to request a full refund within 60 days of the initial purchase. If you submit a refund request beyond the 60-day period, a partial refund will be provided in accordance with our Cancellation & Refunds policy.

Domain name registrations and renewals do not fall under our money-back guarantee. However, you have the flexibility to transfer these to a different registrar while retaining your pre-paid registration period.

There is no money-back guarantee applicable to any services already rendered or any other additional products purchased separately from your hosting package.

Customers who have violated our terms of service regarding allowable content are not eligible for our money-back guarantee, even in relation to their hosting services.

If you decide to cancel your account with us, we offer a fair refund process based on the services you have used.

Domain name registrations and renewals are non-refundable. However, you have the flexibility to transfer your domain to another registrar at any time while retaining your prepaid registration periods.

For unused monthly hosting services, we offer refunds with a processing fee equal to one full monthly fee. Let’s say you prepaid for 24 months of hosting and have already used 18.5 months. If you request a refund, the current 18th monthly cycle would not qualify as unused. We would keep one extra month as our processing fee. As a result, we would refund your monthly subscription for months 20, 21, 22, 23, and 24.

Regarding other services, we handle refund requests on a case-by-case basis. If the service has already been provided, a refund may not be issued. For example, if you had prepaid for a full year of monthly maintenance and there are two months remaining that have not been completed, we would refund you for those two months.

We strive to approach cancellations and refunds fairly, and we are always here to address any specific concerns or questions you may have regarding your account.

We strictly prohibit the following content on our servers:

  1. Internet-Relay-Chat (IRC), or any other chat services and related content
  2. Proxy scripts and Torrent-related content
  3. Initiating background processes on our servers
  4. Warez, hacking tools, exploits, bots or anything related to hacker-focused activities
  5. Cryptocurrency mining of any kind
  6. Game servers
  7. Downloading- and streaming-oriented websites. If you want to include video or audio files on your website, please upload them to a streaming service (like YouTube, Vimeo, SoundCloud, etc.) then “embed” the video or audio player on your site. Such embedding is allowed, but you cannot upload your videos or audio files and stream them from our servers.
  8. Websites promoting illegal activities or hate toward certain group(s).
  9. IP scanners
  10. Any content that is found to be in violation of another person’s copyright or unlawful content.
  11. Storage of files unrelated to your website functionality. (Our servers aren’t meant to replace your DropBox or Google Drive subscription.) Website backup files are acceptable. Any large storage of files unrelated to your hosted websites may be removed without prior notice.

Similarly, we have a zero-tolerance policy against SPAM.  We do not allow bulk mailing from our hosted email accounts or hosting servers. Accounts used to send SPAM will be suspended immediately and the owner of the account will incur an IP-reputation cleaning fee. Contacting people whose email addresses appear on a mailing list you have purchased, illegally acquired, or who haven’t explicitly requested to hear from you via email is considered SPAM.

If you violate any of the above, prompt action will be taken to remove the infringing material or disable access to it, and your account will be suspended or terminated from our hosting services.

Customers are responsible for keeping their accounts up-to-date and secure. Directories must be chmod to 711, and configuration files with passwords must be chmod to 600. Scripts, plugins, and modules must be kept up to date, and strong passwords must be utilized.

WPAuthorHosting.com keeps daily backups of your files and databases for seven days, in addition to weekly backups for 4 weeks, and one monthly backup. As such, should you need to revert your site back to an earlier state, you will be able to access prior versions of your site, dating back to up to 31 days earlier. You can access those files via your own hostpanel or you can reach out to support by creating a ticket and we can help you restore your website to an earlier version of it.

We offer support through tickets submitted from your client area and do our best to respond as fast a possible.

There are certain circumstances under which we may decline to provide technical support. These include instances where you violate our terms of service, request something not supported by our servers, refuse to implement changes requested by WPAuthorHosting, request changes that raise security concerns, make alterations while we are actively working on your request, or exhibit abusive behavior towards our employees.

Our technical support assistance is free and covers a wide range of issues related to our hosting services and hosting platform. However, please be aware that the following matters are not included:

  • Coding and website development issues or any customizations requiring modifications to your website.
  • Installation or configuration of third-party scripts, modules, plugins, or themes.
  • Website security and speed optimization audits.
  • Installation of additional server software, except for approved cases involving PHP extensions, Perl modules, and other software subject to our discretion.

If your technical support request falls outside the scope of our free technical support, we may consider providing assistance at our discretion and may require additional fees.

Rest assured that we will not charge you for technical support services without obtaining your prior written approval.

Email

Each hosting account is limited to sending a maximum of 500 emails per hour, which includes server-hosted webmail, WordPress administrative emails (resetting passwords, new user registration, etc.), contact form submissions from websites, WooCommerce related emails (new orders, processing orders, completed orders, etc.), and any other website-triggered emails.

As such, websites hosted with WPAuthorHosting shouldn’t be using their WPAuthorHosting server space to act as a “newsletter provider” and bulk send emails to people who have subscribed to your newsletter. Please use a designated newsletter provider for such services (like MailerLite, ConvertKit, ActiveCampaign, SendFox, etc.). To clarify, you can absolutely embed forms from external newsletter service providers (or use their API) as this has no impact on the email limits discussed here.

If we notice that your account is sending too many messages in one hour, or over the course of a month, we will reach out to you to recommend upgrading your account to a Virtual Private Server or Dedicated Server, which will support sending more emails.

CPU/RAM

Each hosting plan is assigned a cloud server with several CPU cores and several Gigabytes of RAM. (We assign a lot more cores and RAM than the popular/budget shared-hosting companies out there.) These resources are shared among all customers on the server, and our servers can scale to accommodate occasional spikes in traffic for your website(s), but if your hosting account regularly exceeds the following CPU/memory resource limits (on average basis for a week), we will reach out to you and request that you upgrade to a more powerful hosting plan OR reduce your usage. Failure to do so will result in your account being suspended.

Debut Author: 3%

MidList Author: 5%

BestSelling Author: 9%

AuthorPreneur: 12%

Storage Space & Inodes

Each hosting plan has a strict limit on the available space and inodes (number of folders, files, email messages, etc.) that can be stored in the account. You will not be able to add more files and will encounter problems with email and your website if you reach the limits assigned to your account. If you’re approaching your limits, we will contact you and recommend that you upgrade your plan and/or you may proactively request an upgrade at any time.

As a point of reference, a typical author website built with Elementor and WordPress (non e-commerce) with server-hosted webmail will need about 22,000 inodes and the size should be around 500MB. As such, most authors shouldn’t reach the limits we’ve set under normal circumstances. The most impactful actions authors can take to stay within their resource limits is to delete old emails, only install the plugins they really need, and optimize images for the web (reducing their file sizes).

Debut Author: 3GB and 50,000 inodes

MidList Author: 10GB and 100,000 inodes

BestSelling Author: 25GB and 250,000 inodes

AuthorPreneur: 100 GB and 500,000 inodes

If you outgrow the AuthorPreneur plan, we can build a custom hosting package with more CPU, RAM, Storage, etc. Please start a ticket or reach out to us via our contact form for more information.

If your hosting account had downtime, we will issue a refund as noted below.

  • 99.9% – 0% credit
  • 99.8% – 10% credit
  • 99.7% – 20% credit
  • 99.6% – 30% credit
  • 99.5% – 40% credit
  • 99.4% – 50% credit
  • 99.3% – 60% credit
  • 99.2% – 70% credit
  • 99.1% – 80% credit
  • 99.0% – 90% credit
  • Less than 99% – 100% credit

Scheduled downtime (where you received a notification ahead of time) does not count as “real downtime” and is not eligible for a refund. To claim a refund, submit a ticket to our billing department with relevant logs and details. Once approved, the credit will be applied to your account within 7 days.

WPAuthorHosting reserves the right to modify these Terms and Conditions at any time without notification. Customers agrees to visit this page regularly for updates.
